Combine ISI and RSI Applications

Purpose

How to configure the Inventory Status Interface (ISI) and Room Status Interface (RSI) IVR applications so that the housekeeping staff (or other users) can enter room status and mini-bar inventory status in the same call.

Description

Normally, the ISI IVR and RSI IVR are configured and used as separate applications.  Each can be assigned to a different SDA menu key, allowing both applications to be used on the same system.  However, if the user needs to enter both the room status and update the mini-bar inventory information at the same time, the standard configuration would require that he or she make two separate calls to enter all the information.

Using the method described below, the system can be configured to allow both types of information to be entered during a single call.

Requirements

Both IVR applications must be licensed or this option will not work.

Configuration

Configuration is as simple as changing what you enter as the action for the selected SDA menu key:  rather than typing in ISI or RSI, enter ISIRSI instead.  This action tells the system to combine the two IVR applications into one seamless user interface.

The figure below shows an example where the action is being assigned to the No Input (NI) action.  You might use such an SDA if you configure one of the phone set's keys to speed dial an extension (or virtual extension) dedicated to this purpose; you would then create a matching mailbox on the DV2000/DV4 and assign it an SDA template similar to this one.

Telephony User Interface

The following flowchart shows the typical call pattern used when the ISI and RSI applications are combined in a single call.

Note:  In order to skip asking for the ID and/or the password, you must configure both ISI and RSI to not require them; if either IVR is configured to require the password, then a password will be required; likewise, if either is configured to required a user ID, then an ID number will be required.
