PMS Integration supports a single connection to the PMS via a serial cable connected to the appropriate serial port on the DV2000/DV4 system, or a connection via TCP/IP over an ethernet network.

Connecting via Serial Link

Although the actual appearance may vary, all PCs used by the manufacturer for turn-key  DV2000/DV4 systems come with a male DB9 (9-pin) connector.  It may be located on the PC itself, or it may be provided by way of a peripheral device that connects to the PC via a USB cable.

The table below shows pin-out information for the serial cable that should be correct for most PMS interfaces. Correctly pinned-out cables are essential to successful communication between the PMS and the VMS.  It is recommended that you test the integrity of any serial cable, whether store-bought or custom made.  It is not uncommon for a communication failure to be traced back to a faulty serial cable.

Note: Port connectors shown are those on the PMS and VMS hardware, not the cable.

For software kit installations, the connector type depends on the customer's hardware.  However, most modern PCs use the male DB9 connector shown.

Connecting via TCP/IP Link

Connections using TCP/IP sockets are established over the local ethernet network (or even over the Internet in some cases).  This simply requires that the PC be connected to the local network using a CAT5 (or better) ethernet cable.  All PCs used by the manufacturer for turn-key systems have an ethernet port on the rear of the machine.
