The category report allows you to generate a sales report for a given time period that focuses on a specific category of items (or a general report for all categories).

Printable Report

To generate a printable report, edit the Category Report section under Printable Reports, as shown in the figure below.

Configure the following settings for the report:

Setting

Description

Start Date, Stop Date

Set the first and last days that define the time period to be covered in the report.

Category

Select the category of items to list in the report.

The option -- All Categories -- will generate a report with all items sold during the given time period.

Include Rooms

Check this box if you want the sales broken out by room number.  Uncheck the box for a simple summary report.

After making your configuration selections, click the Ok button to generate the report.

The figure below shows an example category report, with the Category option set to -- All Categories -- and the Include Rooms option disabled:

Click the Print this Page button to invoke the Print dialog, from which you can send the report to your printer (if you have one configured).  Click Close to return to the Run Report page.

CSV Report

The CSV report supports the same options as the printable report, except for the Include Rooms option, as shown below:

Configure the options as described in the Printable Reports section above.  Because the Include Rooms option is not supported in this case, you can only generate a summary report.

Click the Ok button to generate the report.  It will have the same data as the printable summary report but instead of generating a printable web page it will create and download a comma-separated value (CSV) file using the download mechanism built into your web browser.

Where the file is saved on your hard drive depends on your browser, but the browser should tell you the filename that was downloaded and give you the option of opening the folder where the file is located.
