Supported PMS Protocols

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The DV2000/DV4 supports a number of property management systems using a limited number of protocols.

Supported protocols can be roughly divided between those that are VMS-oriented and those that are PBX-oriented.  The latter type of protocol supports PBX features such as passing maid status, changing the DND state of the phone and changing the phone's class of service or call restriction level; VMS-oriented protocols do not support these features.

Connection Methods

The DV2000/DV4 supports three methods for connecting to a PMS:

Connection Type

Description

Serial

Connects via an RS-232 COM port.

TCP Client

Connects via a TCP/IP socket over the network.

PMS hosts the connection, meaning the VMS will connect to the PMS.

TCP Server

Connects via a TCP/IP socket over the network.

VMS hosts the connection, meaning the VMS will open the port and wait for the PMS to connect.

The following table indicates which link types are supported by the DV2000/DV4 for each PMS protocol.

Note: While the DV2000/DV4 supports all three connection methods for most protocols, the PMS itself may not necessarily support all three types.
