Hookstate Monitor

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Hookstate Monitor is a service that will monitor all analog extensions on an Avaya IP Office and send out alerts whenever a monitored extension has been offhook for more than a specified period of time.  It can be configured to alert via email to a list of email addresses and/or via urgent voice message to a specified extension.

Limitations

The Hookstate Monitor service is subject to the following limitations:

It only works with the Avaya IP Office with CTI Pro
It only works if TAPI is enabled and configured
It only works if the Station Monitor feature is enabled in the license
It only works with analog phones
VeMail must be configured

Configuration

Settings are read once every minute, allowing changes to be made to the configuration without having to perform a restart of the system.  To configure the hookstate monitor feature, select Features | Hookstate Monitor from the main menu.  This will open the configuration dialog shown below:

SYS0080

General

The General tab provides the following settings, as shown in the figure above:

Setting

Description

Default

Inactivity timeout (minutes)

An alert will be sent whenever a monitored extension has been offhook for at least this length of time.

1 minute

Enable voice notification

If checked, an auto-generated urgent voice message will be sent to the specified extension whenever an alert is generated.

The administrator can then use the normal mailbox notification settings to configure cell, pager and/or email notifications that trigger whenever a new message is received.

Disabled

Mailbox

The mailbox to receive the alert messages.

Email

Email alerting will generate emails that contain all relevant information in the subject line of the email; the email body will be empty.  For example, an alert for extension 5251 at 5:37pm on December 8, 2012 would produce an email alert with the following subject (and no message body):

ALERT ext 5251 has been offhook for 1 minute(s) 0 seconds at 05:37 pm on 2011/12/08

The Email tab allows you to enable and configure email notifications, as shown in the figure below:
