Define Ports

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Define Ports menu provides options for adding and removing both voice and fax ports.   Note that the fax port options are only enabled if your system has fax capability; otherwise, they will be grayed-out and non-selectable.

Note:  If the DuVoice service is currently running, you cannot add or remove ports and the Define Ports menu will be disabled.

Voice Ports

The following options are provided by the Voice Ports sub-menu.  Port configuration, including creation and deletion, is discussed in more detail in the Port Management section.

Menu Item

Description

Define a Range of Voice Ports

Opens a wizard for creating multiple ports at once.

Remove a Voice Port

Requests the port/line number you wish to delete and then verifies that you truly wish to delete it.

Remove a Range of Voice Ports

Requests the starting and ending port (line) numbers to delete, then verifies that you truly wish to delete them.

Fax Ports

The following options are provided by the Fax Ports sub-menu.  Port configuration, including creation and deletion of fax ports, is discussed in more detail in the Port Management section.

Note: Fax port creation is provided for backwards compatibility with systems using fax modem boards.  If your system is using analog Dialogic boards that natively support fax, you do not need to create any explicit fax ports.

Note: There is no support for fax over SIP, so on SIP-enabled systems the Fax Ports menu is disabled.
