Strip leading zeros from room numbers |
|
Normally, any room number received from the PMS is assumed to be the same as the mailbox number on the VMS, even if the room number starts with a zero. For example, a room number 00101 would translate directly as mailbox 00101.
However, some PMS protocols force the addition of leading zeros onto room numbers that are shorter than the length of the room field defined by the protocol. That is, if the protocol says the room number field is 6 digits and the given room number is 101, it may require that the room number be sent as 000101. In this case, you may want the VMS to strip off the leading zeros and use the true room number as the mailbox number (this is particularly the case if the extension number is the same as the room number). You can do this by enabling this setting.
To configure the hospitality service to strip the leading zeros from room numbers received from the PMS, follow these steps:
1. Using Activity Monitor, stop the voice mail service.
2. Run the System Configuration application and select Features | Hospitality.
3. If prompted, select the PMS instance (as shown below). This dialog is only displayed if you are licensed for more than one PMS instance. Otherwise, skip to step 4.
6. Click Apply to save the setting without closing the dialog. 7. If you are finished configuring hospitality settings, click OK to save and close the dialog. 8. If the Hospitality Selection dialog was displayed in step 3, click Close to close it. 9. Once you are finished with all configuration changes, close System Configuration. 10. Using Activity Monitor, restart the voice mail service.
