Set Phone Status |
|
The DV2000/DV4 (VMS) can control the room phone status when integrating with a PBX that supports this feature.
For the list of PBX protocols supported by the DV2000/DV4 that also support phone control (that is, setting the user rights group or the phone restriction level), see the Phone Control tab in the hospitality configuration section.
In practical terms, controlling the phone status involves the VMS signaling the PBX to toggle between two or more classes of service, user rights groups or call restriction levels (which method is used depends on the PBX). Each COS, group or level permits or restricts different types of calls, such as: internal, room-to-room, local, long distance, and so forth. Some PBX systems may support multiple levels whereas other may only have two (effectively, restricted and unrestricted).
The DV2000/DV4 may be configured to automatically assign one of the supported classes, levels or groups at check in and another at check out. Or your PMS may do so itself, sending the appropriate message packet to the VMS when a room is checked in or out.
In addition to the automatic changing of the phone status at check in and check out, you can use InnDesk to manually change the phone status as well.
Via InnDeskThe ability to change phone status is only available if the PBX integration provides a method for the VMS to signal a change; the VMS itself cannot directly control the behavior of an extension.
To change the phone COS, restriction level or user rights group via InnDesk:
Note: The field displayed by InnDesk does not represent the current state of the phone. In most cases, the PBX does not provide a facility for querying that information and therefore neither InnDesk nor the DV2000/DV4 can know the current state of the phone.
