Configure the auto-create settings

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The DV2000/DV4 can be configured to automatically create a guest mailbox any time it receives a packet from the PMS (such as a check in) for a room number that does not already exist as a mailbox on the VMS.

This is sometimes useful when first installing the VMS.  You can enable this option, restart the voice mail service, and have the PMS perform a database synch (which typically sends a check in or check out packet for all rooms on the PMS).  The VMS would then create a mailbox for each unique room number received.  Once the synch ends, you can then shut down the voice mail service, disable this setting and then restart the service.

To configure the auto-create mailbox settings, follow these steps:

1.  Using Activity Monitor, stop the voice mail service.

2.  Run the System Configuration application and select Features | Hospitality.

3.  If prompted, select the PMS instance (as shown below).  This dialog is only displayed if you are licensed for more than one PMS instance.  Otherwise, skip to step 4.

4.  Select the PMS property page (in the tree view on the left).

MSC0128

5.  In the section Auto-create room mailbox if it does not exist, check the box labeled Enabled to enable the feature or uncheck the box to disable it.

6.  If you have multiple locations defined on the VMS, use the Create in location drop-down box to select the location to be assigned to the mailboxes that are auto-created.

7.  Click Apply to save the setting without closing the dialog.

8.  If you are finished configuring hospitality settings, click OK to save and close the dialog.

9.  Once you are finished with all configuration changes, close System Configuration.

10.  Using Activity Monitor, restart the voice mail service.
