Setup for SIP Systems |
|
For SIP systems, the wizard consists of the following seven pages, each of which is detailed below:
StartThe first page of the wizard describes what information you will need to complete the setup process.
Click Next to continue.
Site InformationThe second page prompts you to enter the site information, including the company name, the telephone number, and so forth.
All items marked with an asterisk (*) are required. You will not be able to continue to the next page unless all required items are filled in. The Fax telephone number is the one optional field and may be left blank if it is not relevant.
Note: SIP-enabled systems do not support fax services at all. The fax number may be entered for informational purposes, but will not be used by the system in any way.
Once you have entered all the necessary information, click Next to continue.
PBX ModelThe third page prompts you to select the PBX to which your system will be connected. This selection, as well as the MWI method selected on the next page, will be used to configure an appropriate switch integration template.
As shown, a number of SIP PBX systems are supported, grouped together by manufacturer. Click on the minus sign to the left of the PBX manufacturer name to expand its sub-list of supported SIP models. If your specific model is not listed, try selecting the closest match or select Other.
Click Next to continue.
MWI MethodThe next page allows you to select the method that will be used when sending message waiting light on and off codes.
Typically, this will be set to SIP Notify, as shown in the figure above, but if you know your PBX requires the use of TAPI or SMDI or an inband feature code (or short code), then you can select the appropriate option instead.
Note: The TAPI option is only available if you have selected Avaya IP Office as the PBX model on the previous page. Likewise, the SMDI option is only available if the PBX model selected was either NEC, NEC Univerge, or Other.
If you select the Inband option, the codes that will be used for turning the message light on and off will be displayed in the Set code and Clear code boxes, respectively. The strings displayed are the default values for the PBX model that you selected on the previous page. If you know that your PBX uses a different code for one or both settings, you can edit the codes on this page following the instructions provided in the dialog.
When you are finished configuring the MWI method, click Next to continue.
SIP InformationThe next page will request the IP address for the SIP registrar.
As instructed, enter the DNS name or IP address of the SIP registrar with which the SIP ports will be registered. Typically, this will be either the server name or the IP address of the IP PBX.
Click Next to continue.
Voice PortsThe sixth page displays the voice ports it will create and allows you to enter the extension numbers assigned to each port. The number of ports created is based on how many your system is authorized to use.
As it says on the page, you can leave the extension numbers blank if you want. However, the SIP integration needs to know the extension numbers assigned to the voice mail ports in order to route calls correctly. So, if you do not enter the extensions in the wizard now, you will need to add them later using System Configuration. To enter an extension number, click in the extension field for the row you want to edit and type in the number.
Enter the hunt group for each port in the same fashion. As with the extension numbers, these can be left blank for now and filled in later using System Configuration. Warning: All SIP integrations require the hunt group fields to be correctly configured. If you do not configure them now, you must configure them in System Configuration later or the integration will not work correctly. When you are finished, click Next to continue.
SummaryThe last page, shown below, summarizes your selections.
Click Finish to complete the setup. The system will create the location Default Location and configure it with the site information you entered. It will then create all the voice ports, assigning them the selected PBX integration template and the extension numbers you entered.
You can now open Mailbox Administration or System Configuration as needed.
