Ensuring unique guest IDs |
|
This setting is only relevant if you have selected Oracle Opera as the hospitality server type.
By default, any given guest ID can only be checked into one room (mailbox) at a time. If a subsequent check-in is received for the same guest ID but in a different room number, the system assumes there was a missed check out and will check the guest out of the current room before checking them into the new room.
If you want to support checking a guest into multiple rooms (such as a suite of interconnected rooms) while maintaining a separate, unique mailbox for each room, you can enable this setting. It will cause the system to treat the combination of guest ID and room number as unique rather than requiring the guest ID alone to be unique.
To enable (or disable) the setting to ensure unique guest IDs, follow these steps:
1. Using Activity Monitor, stop the voice mail service.
2. Run the System Configuration application and select Features | Hospitality.
3. If prompted, select the PMS instance (as shown below). This dialog is only displayed if you are licensed for more than one PMS instance. Otherwise, skip to step 4.
4. Select the PMS property page (in the tree view on the left).
5. In the section Micros Fidelio Opera only, check the Ensure unique guest IDs box to enable the feature (or uncheck it to disable the feature). 6. Click Apply to save the setting without closing the dialog. 7. If you are finished configuring hospitality settings, click OK to save and close the dialog. 8. Once you are finished with all configuration changes, close System Configuration. 9. Using Activity Monitor, restart the voice mail service.
