Configure the PMS protocol

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

There are two settings that, combined, determine the PMS protocol: server type and protocol.  In most cases, the server type will always be Default and you will use the protocol setting to select the protocol (or PMS name) that matches what your PMS expects.

The one exception is the Micros Fidelio Opera PMS, using the FIAS 2.11 protocol over TCP/IP.  In that case, you would select the server type Micros Fidelio and the protocol setting will be automatically configured for you (and cannot be changed).

To configure the server type and protocol, follow these steps:

1.  Using Activity Monitor, stop the voice mail service.

MSC0108

2.  Run the System Configuration application and select Features | Hospitality.

SYS0008

3.  If prompted, select the PMS instance (as shown below).  This dialog is only displayed if you are licensed for more than one PMS instance.  Otherwise, skip to step 4.

SYS0076

4.  Select the PMS property page (in the tree view on the left).

MSC0133

5. In the section PMS Server, use the Server type drop-down box to select the server type.  Unless you are using Micros Fidelio Opera over a TCP/IP connection, leave this set to Default and proceed to the next step.  If you are connecting to an Opera PMS over TCP/IP (using the FIAS 2.11 protocol), select Micros Fidelio instead and then skip to step 7.
6. Use the Protocol drop-down box to select the PMS name or protocol that matches what your PMS is using.  Consult the Supported PMS Protocols section if you need to verify the actual protocol assigned to a given PMS name in this list. Note: If you selected the server type Micros Fidelio in step 5, this setting will be auto-configured for you and cannot be changed; proceed to step 7.
7. Click Apply to save the setting without closing the dialog.
8. If you are finished configuring hospitality settings, click OK to save and close the dialog.
9. Once you are finished with all configuration changes, close System Configuration.
10. Using Activity Monitor, restart the voice mail service.
